What is organic honey?

Organic honey is one of nature’s finest gifts in a raw and unprocessed form. Many people have wondered what it is and how it is different from regular honey.

There is a huge difference between raw, organic honey and conventional, pasteurised honey. The latter, often comprising a blend of various honeys, sometimes also include sugar, flavourings, and other additives. Artisan raw honey, by contrast, is pure, fresh, and unpasteurised. It is often referred to as a nutritious ‘live’ food. For honey to be certified organic, the farmers have to meet a set of rigorous conditions – including (not limited to) the source of the nectar, foraging area, the extracting process, and packaging materials.

Why is it better?

Apart from having an immensely superior flavour, organic honey exudes a range of health benefits. It is nutritionally superior to sugar and conventional honey. It is often said to boost the immune system as it contains enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and free radical antioxidants.

You can use organic honey in multiple ways as a substitute to other sweeteners: It is a great addition to tea, buttered toast and breakfast. Drizzle over fresh cheeses, add to spiced Chai tea or yoghurt and fresh fruit.
